Tom Huang | Dallas Morning News, Assistant Managing Editor
Tom Huang is Assistant Managing Editor for Journalism Initiatives at The Dallas Morning News, where he oversees Sunday Page One, edits in-depth enterprise stories, directs newsroom talent development and leads The News’ community-funded journalism initiative, which seeks philanthropic funding to support public service journalism. In 2020, he helped launch The News' Education Lab, which has expanded Texas education reporting with the support of several local foundations. As an adjunct faculty member of The Poynter Institute, he organizes and teaches seminars for professional journalists on writing, reporting and editing. For the past four years, he has served as a coach in the Poynter Table Stakes program, which helps newsrooms make the transition to sustainable digital publishing.
Anjulie Ponce | Leadership Forward, Executive Director
Once a medical malpractice attorney, Anjulie Ponce has pursued mentorship with Leadership Forward since 2016. Aiming to inspire, she began her journey as a mentor to a student from W.H. Adamson High School in DISD. With a passion for nurturing the mentor/protégé relationship, Ponce signed on as Executive Director for the 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2018 where she now leads a large team to bring mentorship, guidance, and opportunity to the DFW community.
