“So You Want to Run for Office“ is a presentation by former officeholder Carol Donovan. The presentation is not just for candidates-to-be. It is also for anyone who wants to know what goes on behind-the-scenes for every judicial campaign in Dallas County and elsewhere. As you know, except for the federal bench, all judicial candidates are elected, and even the federal judges are appointed by elected officeholders. So, join us, and see how the sausage is made back in the kitchen.

Carol Donovan is a native of Dallas, and attorney-mediator, and a former Dallas County Democratic Party Chair (June 2015-June 2021). She has a JD, a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership, and is credentialed as a Texas Mediator. She has practiced law in Dallas for over 40 years with an emphasis on mediation and probate law since 1993. In both her profession and her community work, Carol works to resolve disputes and facilitate communication. In addition to practicing law, she has served as a nonprofit executive, community volunteer and public speaker. However, her favorite role is as grandmother to her four "almost perfect" grandkids.
